We celebrate every hosting customer’s anniversary with us by planting trees around the world. The number of trees planted increases for every year a customer has been with us, and we regularly increase that number.
Our preferred tree-planting partners are Trees For The Future and One Tree Planted. Trees For The Future has dual environmental and people benefits, as they help people plant trees and gardens to feed their families. One Tree Planted does a lot of work planting trees in the Amazon rainforest.
In our second year, we asked our customers for a water-based organization they’d love to support. We made one-off donations to a bunch of options that made the final list, and added the most voted for, Reef Check, to the list of organizations we continue to support on a monthly basis.
Reef Check has a variety of aims, including education, research, and actively helping the health and habitats of coral reefs.

Autoscaling resources – With our hosting, your website isn’t tied to just one server. This provides a whole range of benefits (you can read more about them on our Platforms & Technologies page), and also means that the hardware, cooling technologies and resources used are more efficiently allocated. We use highly reliable servers fitted with efficient fans and processors.

One single transaction produces more carbon than a flight from London to Paris. You can take at least 400,000 regular card transactions for the same amount of carbon, so we’re happy to be a crypto-free company.
ꪜ Keep the default email attachment size 32MB
This encourages people to be more conscious about reducing file sizes before they email them. With thousands of people sending emails every day, every little makes a difference.
ꪜ Not offer online game hosting
This is super intensive in terms of processing power, and scaled to the number of people involved means a significant environmental impact. There are many hosts that offer online game hosting; we’re just not one of them!
ꪜ Minimize environmental impact in the workplace
We adopt a “paperless and plastic free wherever possible” approach. We also love using recycled materials around the office, including desks made from reclaimed wood and recycled apple crates to hold office snacks and drinks.
As a team, we do small everyday things that add up, including having the briefest text-based email and message signatures, conscious recycling, and where possible walking to the office or working from home to minimize car usage.
We use computers, monitors, kitchen appliances and other equipment with excellent energy use ratings, and we recycle or donate them as needed to give them extra life.
